Insulation for Suspended Concrete Slabs

Polyurethane foam insulation is the best option for insulating the underside of suspended concrete slabs.  

Concrete slabs need to be insulated for various reasons, including energy efficiency and condensation.  

In the case of a roof top car park, the insulation foam can eliminate the heat being absorbed in the slab from radiating down into the tenancies below. This greatly reduces the loading on the air-conditioning plant and improves its efficiency and effectiveness. Instead of having to fight against the heat mass of the slab, it merely needs to heat or cool the internal air. 

In cases where a cool room or cold case has been built on a suspended slab, insulating the underside of the slab is essential to prevent condensation from occurring on the underside of the slab. This is part of the standard specification for Coles, Woolworths and other large operations. If the cool room floor is insulated and heater pads, spray foam is still needed to guarantee the prevention of condensation should these fail.
